The activation of papain and related plant enzymes with sodium thiosulfate.

A considerable nurnber oí substances have been studied as possible activators íor papain. These studies led to the developrnent oí theories on the mode oí action oí these activators. As we íound sodjurn thiosulfate to be a potent activator íor papain and especially suitable íor the study oí the activation reaction, we shall present here sorne oí OUT results. Moreover, thiosulfate rnay have sorne practical interest in connection with the industrial and rnedical use oí papain.1
